I’m Zelix Slocum and the founder of Forge & Bloom Landscapes in Tucson, AZ. With over 20 years of experience designing and building outdoor spaces, I’ve learned that great landscapes do more than just look beautiful—they invite imagination, creating a space for both reflection and gathering.
I draw inspiration from the natural flow of water in our desert environment, considering the land’s unique qualities and how to bring harmony between elements. I believe in simplicity, balance, and intentional design. These principles shape everything I do, both in my work and my life. Whether through careful attention to detail or a commitment to crafting lasting spaces, my approach is always focused on quality, function, and beauty. Throughout my career, I’ve developed a deep understanding of spatial awareness—the ability to see how elements come together to create a cohesive environment that flows naturally and feels right at every turn. Whether building a brand-new design or restoring an existing landscape, I embrace the challenge of shaping metal, stone, and nature into works that elevate both the environment and the experience.
I shape raw materials into spaces that feel both natural and intentional. Large boulders and stone slabs add scale and create striking focal points, while native plants integrate seamlessly into the desert landscape. Custom metal trellises for climbing vines and decorative steel fencing define spaces without confining them.
I design and build custom landscapes, patios, outdoor kitchens, water features, lighting, and irrigation systems. Each project is unique, and I take great care in listening to my clients, working closely with them to craft landscapes that suit their tastes and needs.
I approach each project with a focus on value engineering, ensuring that every design meets your aesthetic vision while optimizing resources. Whether it’s a complete transformation or fine-tuning an existing space, I work closely with you to create landscapes that reflect your vision. At Forge & Bloom, I take a hands-on approach, personally overseeing every stage of the process, from concept to completion. With years of experience in landscape construction as a builder, fabricator, and stone mason, I bring a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail to every project. I believe in thoughtful design, using quality materials, and creating spaces that stand the test of time.
